Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Back Yard Hero Personal Bug Zapper. Features: Kills mosquitoes, flies, gnats and other flying insects on contact Two button child safety switch Safe for indoor or outdoor use Uses 2 "AA" batteries included PBZ 8 Glows in the Dark.

Amazon.com Review:
Keep the bugs away from your next barbecue without resorting to unsafe insect sprays. Designed on the premise of a flyswatter, this handheld bug zapper is shaped like a tennis racket and kills insects on contact via an electric current when they touch the surface of the "net." The zapper operates on two AA batteries and, for safety, activates when you simultaneously press the two buttons on its handle. The bug zapper is safe for either indoor or outdoor use; however, people should exercise caution when the zapper is activated as it will cause a shock. --Cristina Vaamonde

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Flimsy but tape over one of the button and you will catch bugs
It works as defined but the problem is that it is so light that you hesitate to hit a bug on the head fearing it will fall apart.

Tape over one of the buttons for easier use.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - More Fun as a Dare than a Bug Zapper
At a recent party my friends and I were hosting, we used it frequently. However, we used it more as a dare to touch it than as a bug zapper. While it did zap the bugs(in particular on the bug netting of a gazebo), it took 2-3 zaps before they were down for the count. In addition, not having screens to sandwich the electrified screen can be unsafe for uninitiated or young folk. I also point out that I have used a slightly larger bug zapper with protective screens in the philippines during the dry ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - amazing and fun !
this product works well, even though cheaply built.

The insects explode with a pleasant 'bang' and it is so satisfying that one soon goes looking for more to kill..

The battery cover is cheap and may get loose. I placed some duct tape over that to hold it in place.

In terms of design I would prefer just a single switch (no doubt lawyers made them use two - you know, for safety) but one does get used to holding both to switch it on. One can also easily open the ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great fun and it works too!
We found the bug zapper first in Canada, but had trouble finding them in local stores. So we were thrilled to find these available through Amazon. My husband delights to wage war against the black flies coming over from the stables next door. You know you scored when you see the spark! Don't buy just one. These make wonderful (dare I say unique?) hostess gifts for anyone who might be pestered with flying pests.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Frustrated No Longer!!
I just bought this AMAZING handheld bug zapper, and I couldn't be more pleased! I had a stream of yellowjackets entering one point in my soffit, and nothing seemed to work until in desperation I bought this racket. Within minutes of opening it, I was out there getting them with extreme satisfaction. They would hit it and ZAP! Dead. Even my husband enjoyed getting these pests after returning home from work....it's more fun than it probably should be, and I highly recommend it!
